Congratulations to all WCC racers for their gutsy performance this weekend at the Webster Roubaix on 3/22! Dominic Ollivierre took top honors with a 4th place finish in the Cat 3's and despite crashing on his shoulder, Derek Bennet finished in 6th place. Close behind were Tim Hutton & Carlos Martin with 10th and 12th place respectively. Jesse Morse came up with his best finish this season with 18th to secure some valuable FPS points. Marty Bates continues to improve his form with a 26th place finish. In the Cat 4 group Ralph Blanco overcame some late race drama by taking 20th place. Ralph credits his strong finish in part to J.T. Stahlschmidt who bridged up to him twice and encouraged Ralph to ride strong to the finish. Despite J.T.'s motivation he suffered a puncture and did not finish the race. Ryan Lask was the sole Cat 5 racer who hung tough to claim West Coast Cycling gained some valuable FPS points this weekend at the Squiggy Time Trial hosted by Best of the Bay Cyclists. Derek was again the highest finisher with 5th in the cat 3's and Alan Glanz was top dog in the cat 4's with a 5th place finish. Though the day was cold and had winds speeds at 20mph the team hung tough and raced around the 7 mile course with determination and gusto! Ralph Blanco finished 6th in the 4's just two seconds behind Alan. J.T. Stahlschmidt showed a much improved time to finish 13th in the 4's. Grady Gosselin is making progress and continues to improve as the early season marches on. The team time trial was dominated by WCC with Derek, Ralph, Marty and Dominic claiming victory in the 3,4,5 category and J.T., Alan, and Paval claiming 2nd! Kevin, Sean, and Grady flew to a 7th place finish. Way to go team! West Coast Cycling team once again came out to race and had a strong presence througout the weekend in Sanford and Lake Mary. On Saturday in the Lake Mary criterium there was plenty of drama and excitement in the Cat 3's as David and Dominic raced for 52 minutes at an average speed of 25 mph. David has been recovering from the flu and managed to hang tough for a 16th place finish despite being gapped and recovering three times. Dominic sprinted for the line despite having misjudged the final turn to finish in 8th place to collect some very well deserved points and cash. In the Cat 4 category J.T. and Grady hammered at the front for the entire 30 minutes but were crashed out by a lapped rider with just two laps to go. Both re-entered the race to finish 15th and 19th respectively. Grady finished with a rear wheel that was bent so badly it rubbed on both sides of the brake pads and J.T. was bleeding from the forearm and hip but hung tough to secure some valuable FPS points.
